Emery wants Ozil to leave this month to raise funds to bring in Suarez at cash-strapped Arsenal

The midfielder, who was left out this weekend's defeat to West Ham, is the club's highest-paid player on around £350,000-per-week.

And according to the Daily Mail, Emery wants to offload the 30-year-old before the end of the January transfer window.

The Spanish boss is keen to free up funds after the club confirmed he has no money available for transfers.

But the Gunners are yet to receive any credible interest for the 92-cap Germany international.

Ozil has scored just four goals and made two assists in all competitions this season after 16 appearances.

Emery confirmed Ozil was dropped for Saturday's clash at the London Stadium for tactical reasons.

He said: "We had enough players to win today, to impose our game plan and our tactics and our quality.

"I decided the players who were best for this match. We've won with him, we've lost with him."

Arsenal have been linked with a deal for Barcelona ace Denis Suarez, but can't afford his mere £10million asking price.

He has an excellent, talented squad at his disposal, no matter what anyone might say, but he is simply wasting it by leaving some of his best players out.

The Gunners are expected to sit down with the Spanish star to discuss the details of a potential loan move.

And Emery will be desperate to bolster his midfield if Juventus fork out the £18million fee to sign Aaron Ramsey this month.
