Eden Hazard will double Chelsea wages with £400k-a-week Real Madrid deal after sealing £130m transfer

EDEN HAZARD will DOUBLE his wages at Real Madrid, according to reports.

The Chelsea hero is expected to complete his long-anticipated move in the next 24 hours, with Los Blancos to pay a structured deal worth up to £130million.

That fee will see the Spanish club pay around £88million up front with a further £42m in add-ons.

The Evening Standard now report that Hazard will see his salary from £200,000-a-week to £400,000-a-week, making him one of the highest-paid players at the Bernabeu.

Hazard, who signed off on the deal with his legal team, has also accepted a five-year contract.

The star will not be unveiled at Real Madrid until the end of next week, after Belgium's Euro 2020 qualifier against Scotland on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, having grown up idolising current manager Zinedine Zidane.

The former France captain has also long been an admirer of the winger, having first told Real Madrid to sign the player back in 2009 when he was breaking through at Lille.

He said at the time: "I would take Hazard to Madrid with my eyes closed."

Zidane was the driving factor in the transfer happening, after negotiations between Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia and Real Madrid chief Jose Angel Sanchez broke down at the start of the week.

Despite there being just a year left on his contract, Chelsea were insistent that Real Madrid pay more than £100m for their star man.

Zidane pushed the board to pay far more than they wanted to, with the two clubs eventually settling on 'realistic' clauses, related to team and individual performance, as well as instalments over time.

Chelsea also won the boardroom battle over Mateo Kovacic.

Real Madrid wanted the Croatian midfielder, who spent the season on loan at Stamford Bridge, to be part of the deal, but Granovskaia pushed for negotiations to be separate.

As Kovacic was already registered to the club, he can be signed even if Chelsea are banned from signing players this summer.

With Ruben Loftus-Cheek injured until at least Christmas, Kovacic will likely be signed for squad depth.

There is also a chance that the London club could still spend some of their record cash on new players this summer.

The Blues finally lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the two-window transfer ban imposed on them by Fifa for signing foreign minors.

It is not yet clear when a verdict will be reached by CAS, with the process likely to take months.
