De Gea 'has face like slapped a***' at Man Utd training as contract talks drag on

DAVID DE GEA has a “face like a slapped a***” after a number of blunders and his contract stand-off with Manchester United rumbling on.

The Spanish goalkeeper, 28, has been out-of-sorts in recent weeks as questions over his future this summer continue.

The United No1 conceded four away at Everton and he should have done better for both of Manchester City's goals last week.

He also messed up in the Champions League as United were knocked out by Lionel Messi's Barcelona while their season faltered.

De Gea is still in talks with Old Trafford chiefs over a new £350,000-a-week deal, but the club are stalling on his hefty demands.

And it is understood the ex-Atletico Madrid stopper has been miserable and not his usual self at their Carrington training complex over the last few weeks.

SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT

A United insider said: “David has had a face like a slapped a*** around the place for more than a month or so now.

“He has always been someone you had a smile on his face but he has not been his usual bubbly self and something is not right.

“The contract situation dragging on might be interfering with his head and the constant speculation cannot help, that's for sure.”

Old Trafford boss Solskjaer is braced for a summer battle to keep hold of De Gea with both PSG and Juventus interested.

It is understood the pair are willing to pay his wage demands, while a £60m transfer bid early in the window is already being prepared.

Real Madrid almost signed De Gea four years ago as paperwork was not submitted on time – and Zinedine Zidane now has Thibaut Courtois as his No1.

However, with the ex-Chelsea man struggling, Zizou could yet go back in for the Man Utd star once more.
