David Luiz protects young pitch invader from security as Chelsea star gives lad hug following Europa League triumph

DAVID LUIZ hugged a young pitch invader to protect him from security after Chelsea won the Europa League final.

The Brazilian defender, 32, was in the mood to celebrate after the incredible 4-1 win over Arsenal in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Chelsea's squad continued to celebrate on the pitch after they received their medals and lifted the trophy.

A number of fans in the Olympic Stadium decided to charge onto the pitch in an attempt to join in with the fun.

One supporter appeared to be tackled to the ground by security, but one weaved his way all the way up to Luiz.

He shook his hand before he pulled him in a closely for a hug as two stewards tried to intervene.

The youngster, who was wearing a Barcelona holdall bag, was eventually led off the pitch by three security guards.

Luiz also shared a similar moment with a pitch invader when he was playing for Brazil at the 2014 World Cup.

He hugged the youngster on the pitch before he eventually took off his shirt and gave him the sweaty souvenir.

After the win, Luiz paid tribute to manager Maurizio Sarri for winning the Europa League during his first season in charge.

The 32-year-old said: "I think the manager did amazing. He's doing amazing for this club.

"Speculation, talk about things every day, I think now is the moment to talk about the title.

"I think it was a great year. Some ups and downs. But we improved a lot. Learned a lot. And finished very well. Sarri believed in my game, great guy, great person, great coach."
