Conor McGregor 'would be beaten 100 times out of 100', insists rival Dos Anjos

Nurmagomedov handily beat McGregor in October at UFC 229 after forcing him to submit from a neck crank in round four of their lightweight title fight.

Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Dos Anjos claimed Nurmagomedov’s dominant grappling style means he will always have the advantage over the striking maestro McGregor.

Dos Anjos said: “Khabib style-wise is not a good fight for Conor.

“If they ever fought again 100 times, it will be the same thing – Khabib will take him down and finish him, again.

“I think McGregor did well in the early rounds, but he couldn’t handle the pressure. He struggled as the fight goes on, he started breaking a bit and that’s his downfall.”

McGregor and Nurmagomedov did not keep the fight in the octagon and the pair have been banned for their parts in the UFC 299 post-fight brawl.

The Notorious is currently serving a six-month suspension while Nurmagomedov was handed a harsher nine-month penalty.

SunSport exclusively revealed today that Dos Anjos has targeted a fight with McGregor upon the Irishman’s return this year – in a bid to settle the Brazilian’s unfinished business with The Notorious.

The pair were set to meet at UFC 196 for Dos Anjos’ lightweight title – however, the then champion pulled out two weeks beforehand with a broken foot.

SunSport understands last year the UFC had agreed a deal for McGregor to fight Dos Anjos in Brazil for the interim welterweight title.

However, in the April McGregor was involved in an attack on a bus with UFC fighters inside – meaning Dos Anjos yet again missed out on a title showdown with the sport's greatest star.

But Dos Anjos has called out the 30-year-old to a fight at UFC 237 on May 11 in Brazil.

Dos Anjos said: “Hey, Conor, like you said we were close to fighting in Brazil, we were close to getting it done twice, if you really want to get it on, I’m here, let's finally get it done.

“We have a show in May for Brazil I would love to fight him in Brazil in May. A lot of people want to see this fight.

“You pick the weight class, I can go down to lightweight, I just need time in advance to get the right cut – let’s get it done.
“Me and Conor, we are both 3-2 in our last five fights – he came off a loss and got finished, the two fights that I lost, I fought five rounds with the toughest guys in the division.

“I fought till the end, people don’t finish me like that – I think it would be a good thing, if he really wants to fight in Brazil, lets get it on.”
