Chelsea prepare for Liverpool as Lamps reveals he tries to be like Mourinho with players – The Sun

FRANK LAMPARD says he bases his man-management on old boss Jose Mourinho – as his Chelsea side prepares to face Liverpool's own king of charisma Jurgen Klopp

Stamford Bridge legend Lampard "tries to act" with his players the same way his two-time Chelsea manager Mourinho treated him – building a bond that inspired the midfielder to become a 106-cap England regular.

Lamps has England new boy Mason Mount and French World Cup winner N'Golo Kante in contention for midfield places at home to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

And as he measures himself against the Champions League winners, who have been transformed under man-of-the-people Klopp, Lampard explained what set Mourinho apart from other bosses.

Ex-Derby chief Lamps told Sky Sports: "I've been influenced by all the managers i've played under, probably Jose as much if not more than anyone

'PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP'

"Because he was at a real point in my career where my performances got better, my mindset changed, he gave me a lot of confidence within the team and about myself.

"So I try and act like that with players, I try to have a personal relationship with them, which means driving them every day, driving them to be better and try to help them to be confident and understand what you need to do to go up the levels as a player.

"So I took a lot from Jose but I also took a lot from my other managers."
