Chelsea in huge Adrien Rabiot boost as PSG boss admits he could leave in January

Tuchel stated Rabiot could leave Paris next month if he has not signed a contract extension before the January transfer window shuts.

Rabiot’s contract expires at the end of the season and reports suggest that Chelsea are keen on the Frenchman.

This comes after Arsenal and Liverpool were also heavily linked with the 23-year-old who has played 20 times in all competitions this season.

Rabiot has turned down three contract extensions with PSG bosses growing concerned that the midfielder will leave on a free transfer next season.

Barcelona have also expressed their interest in the Frenchman who was not apart of France’s winning World Cup campaign.

Tuchel also confirmed that the club are still seeking a defensive midfielder as they look to bolster their squad.

Only Marco Verratti, defender Marquinhos and veteran Lassana Diarra make up recognisable names in their midfield.

Rabiot will have the opportunity to impress Premier League clubs in February when PSG take on Man Utd in the Champions League last 16.

PSG travel to Old Trafford for the first leg and then a month later host Jose Mourinho’s side at the Parc des Princes.

This season PSG played Liverpool in the group stages as they lost 3-2 at Anfield before avenging the defeat 2-1 in the return fixture.

Rabiot started the game at Anfield but only appeared as a substitute in Paris as goals from Juan Bernat and Neymar sealed the win for his side.
