Best horse racing tips for today's action at Sedgefield, Chepstow and Ludlow from Tom Bull

THE lull between Cheltenham and Aintree is always a long, drawn-out process – but it can be made so much better with a winner or two.

I've been trawling through Thursday's cards and reckon I've found some sure-fire certs for the afternoon's action.

Sedgefield

3.10 Miss Amelia – Produced a fine performance to win at Market Rasen last time, travelling smoothly before asserting late on.

She pulled a long way clear with the runner-up that day and a 6lb rise looks more than fair.

Despite being raised in grade, this almost looks a weaker contest and she's the one horse who's on the upgrade.

Chepstow

5.50 Subway Surf – The best bet on the card comes in the bumper, where Kim Bailey's mare the looks the one to beat.

She was an impressive winner on debut at Ludlow and has since improved on that form to finish third in  a better contest at Ascot.

This is a drop in grade and she should be good enough to defy a penalty with Mikey Hammill removing 3lb.

Bully's Wednesday Bankers

3.10 Sedgefield – Miss Amelia

5.50 Chepstow – Subway Surf

3.00 Ludlow – Gortroe Joe

Ludlow

3.00 Gortroe Joe – Something seemed to click last time out for Harry Skelton's gelding, who beat a decent yardstick by seven lengths at this track.

A 5lb rise is a touch on the lenient side and now that the team have managed to harness his ability, there should be more to come.

With just three runs over fences, there's reason to expect plenty more from him in this sphere.
