Benjamin Mendy to make Man City comeback against Burton after two months out

The French World Cup winner has been out for more than two months after suffering a knee ligament injury in the derby win over United in November.

Boss Pep Guardiola is expected to field a side containing some young players and others who need a game in the tie with Nigel Clough's men.

And he confirmed £49.3 million man Mendy – who has endured a nightmare with injuries since he joined 18 months ago – will travel to the Midlands with City.

Guardiola said: "He's in the squad, he will travel with us. Maybe on the bench.

"Have we missed him? The results say not too much in the last two years – but I miss him a lot.

"I have a feeling he can give us something extra and hopefully in the last part of the season and in the future we can use him.

"When he pushes from outside, he's unstoppable. In the last third he's so clever.

"In the past two seasons, he's played very few and all the talk, training practice, he's not there.

"He will need time to adjust to what we need with his quality."

Guardiola confirmed Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden will also play in a game where City start with a NINE goal lead.

He added: "We are going to play Phil and some young players will be on the bench. Two or three play and tow or three on the bench. Kevin is going to play.

"I've said we don't think about the result from the first leg."

Skipper Vincent Kompany remains sidelined with Guardiola saying he has had a 'few little injuries' since the victory over Liverpool.
