Bayern star Lewandowski urges 'super' Sane to join as president confirms they are working on a deal with Man City

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI has hailed the prospect of Leroy Sane quitting Manchester City to join him at Bayern Munich.

Sane could quit the Etihad Stadium this summer having fallen down the pecking order at the Premier League champions over the past season.

Boss Pep Guardiola says he wants the 23-year-old to remain at City, but with regular starts being a problem for the winger last season he could decide to move elsewhere.

And after president Bayern Uli Hoeness admitted that talks are taking place over a deal, striker Lewandowski made it clear how much he wants the move to happen.

The Polish international said: "That’s a super player with great qualities and great potential.

"I’ve already seen many times how good he is. That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team."

Earlier this week Hasan Salihamidzic refused to be drawn on whether the German club were trying to entice Sane back to his native country.

SUMMER CHANGES

But that position has now been blown wide open by Hoeness, who said: "We are dealing with this player."

Sane could be on his way out of City as part of a major summer transfer frenzy at the Etihad which may see them fork out £90million to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester.

Guardiola is refusing to stand still despite leading his side to a domestic treble this season, knowing the club have to mount a stronger challenge for Champions League glory next year.

Bayern themselves look to be embarking on a summer of changes, fresh from seeing Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leave the club.

They have already completed the signings of French international defenders Benjamin Pavard and Lucvas Hernandez – and the is more to come.

Lewandowski is sure his club will be major players in the transfer market over the close season.

He added: "The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and we already have two players, I know there’s still more to come.

"That’s certain. Bayern has not yet said the final word with respect to transfers."
