Arsenal miss out on Aaron Ramsey replacement as Hector Herrera agrees to join Atletico Madrid

ARSENAL have reportedly missed out on Porto star Hector Herrera.

Spanish newspaper AS claims the Mexican midfielder has agreed a deal to join Atletico Madrid this summer.

Herrera had been tipped as a replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.

But the versatile ace is instead on his way to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico have moved quickly for reinforcements in the wake of their Champions League defeat to Juventus, leaving Arsenal in the dust.

Diego Simeone’s men won the first leg of their last-16 clash 2-0.

But a barnstorming performance from Cristiano Ronaldo saw Juventus overturn the scoreline in Turin.

And Atleti are now planning a major rebuild to ensure the mistake is not repeated next season.

There are sure to be more signings too, with a new left-back expected as doubts remain over the futures of veteran Filipe Luis and Bayern Munich target Lucas Hernandez.

Captain Diego Godin is also set to join Inter Milan, and Simeone will be hoping he can land his top targets when the transfer window reopens this summer.
