Andy Jenkins fined and issued suspended ban for homophobic language

Darts player Andy Jenkins has been fined and given a suspended three-month ban for using homophobic language towards a match official.

The 47-year-old – nicknamed ‘Rocky’ – has been issued the punishment by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) for an incident that occurred during a Challenge Tour match on November 11 last year.

The Hampshire-based World Championship semi-finalist of 2007 has been fined £1,000 and given a suspended three-month ban that lasts until July 5.

Jenkins was reprimanded in the first raft of sanctions handed out by the DRA this year that also included Welshman Gerwyn Price being fined £21,500 and given a suspended three-month ban for gamesmanship in two matches and an inappropriate post on social media.

Price was just millimetres from darting perfection last week as the Premier League roadshow hit Exeter in week four, winning a thrilling contest against contender Luke Humphries at the Westpoint Arena.

Jenkins, meanwhile, lost to Mario Robbe on Friday in a heated UK Open first-stage quarter-final.
