She started her television career as a 21-year-old while working in fashion retail. Now, following her Glitterball win on Strictly Come Dancing 2018, Stacey Dooley, 31, is set for even greater success thanks to a series of mega deals that could see her earning an extra £1.2 million and a coveted spot as TV’s sweetheart.

The glitter’s barely settled following her triumph on Strictly but the Luton-born star, who is thought to earn £150,000 a year currently, has already landed herself several major new contracts for 2019.

She was today announced as the new host of BBC reality show Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-up Star, cementing her status as the broadcaster’s new darling.

She’s also secured a contributing editor role at Grazia magazine, and there’s a signing tour in the offing for the paperback version of her book.

That’s in addition to her appearance in the Strictly Come Dancing UK Tour that starts its 29-show later this month, with her upcoming projects predicted to net her £1.2M.

‘It looks set to be a bumper year for Stacey whose bubbly, girl next door personality has been likened to Holly Willoughby – now one of the highest paid women on TV,’ PR agent Claire Shiels tells Femail.

‘She’s in demand and understandably taking advantage of her popularity which will enable her to command higher fees,’ comments Claire.

‘Based on the alleged value of Holly Willoughby’s £600,000 salary as co-host of This Morning; Stacey could well earn as much as £300,000 from her new TV role,’ according to PR agent Claire Shiels.

Stacey will feature alongside judges Val Garland, Global Make-Up Director for L’Oreal Paris, and Dominic Skinner, Global Senior Artist for MAC, in the elimination series.

‘With new creative briefs each week, the ten contestants will live and work together as they compete to win a contract assisting some of the world’s biggest make-up artists.

‘I’m delighted to be involved with Glow Up. The make-up artists are so impressive and talented… and Val and Dominic were a scream to work with.

‘Can’t wait to show you all it!’ Stacey said of her new screen role.

Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour: £20,000

The glamorous dance show has previously faced pay rows with some professional dancers even threatening strike action after reportedly being refused rises.

But the competition’s certainly been lucrative for Stacey who would have bagged herself a whopping £100,000 as the winner of the show.

Her payday is set to continue with the Strictly Come Dancing UK Tour kicking off later this month. With 29 shows in the line-up, Claire predicts Stacey could receive around £20,000 for her appearance.

Stacey has also released a book that takes a look at some of the people she’s met during her time as a documentary-maker – a deal that could score her £100,000

Book deal: £100,000

With a paperback version released next month, Stacey’s On The Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back book takes a look at some of the people she’s met during her time as a documentary-maker. From sex trafficking in Cambodia to Yazidi women fighting back in Syria and victims of domestic violence in Honduras, it draws on her encounters with ‘brave and wonderful women.’

Alongside the book, that retails for £8.99, Stacey is appearing in a series of live talks called ‘An Evening with Stacey Dooley’ where she’ll be interviewed on her career by writer, broadcaster and comedian Viv Groskop, and signing copies of her book.

Published by BBC Books, it’s a deal that’s likely to be valued at around £100,000, according to Claire.

Glossy magazine contributing editor: £20,000

We’ve grown more used to seeing Stacey in spangly frocks but she looks set to pick up her work boots again having bagged herself a new contract as contributing editor of investigations for Grazia magazine.

In a role Claire says could bump her earnings up by another £20,000, Stacey will be penning a series of investigative reports for the glossy weekly publication.

‘I’m delighted to work alongside the team this year. Their dedication towards exploring stories, both at home and much further afield really appeals to me. I can’t wait to get going,’ Stacey said of the new role.

Grazia editor Hattie Brett, commented: ‘I’m thrilled Stacey is joining team Grazia. Her unquestionable nose for a story, coupled with her warm no-nonsense reporting style will highlight important issues to our readers in a unique way.’

Fashion brand collaboration: £500,000

‘Like stars such as Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby, Stacey has the potential to front her own clothing range for a high street retailer that could be worth around £500,000 for Stacey.

‘She’s known for her striking red hair which could lend itself to a beauty endorsement in the future, too,’ adds Claire.

Other brand endorsements and public appearances: £250,000

‘Stacey will inevitably secure other brand endorsements and public appearances throughout the year which could net her another £250,000,’ comments Claire.

But Stacey needs to be careful not too become overexposed if she’s to continue her success, warns PR expert Nick Ede. ‘I think that there is a real scope for Stacey to make more money if she does some clever endorsement deals, and also adverts.

‘She needs to be careful not to become too over-exposed, though, choosing what she does carefully.  She has the potential to become a national sweetheart but the public can love people and turn off them just as quickly,’ explains Nick.

Whatever the future holds, Stacey’s glittering career in showbiz is a far cry from her humble beginnings when, having left school at 16 and working as a fashion shop assistant three years later, she was selected to take part in the BBC series Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts.

The show saw her live and work alongside Indian factory workers making clothes for the UK High Street. After catching the attention of BBC head honchos, she was given her own series of hugely popular investigations called ‘Stacey Dooley Investigates.’
