A mother-of-two has revealed how a ‘mummy tummy makeover’ helped her feel confident again after she lost 6st.

Following two pregnancies, Clare McCartan, 33, from the UK, ballooned to a size 22 and was keen to make a change after being left feeling insecure.

But after working hard to get her pre-baby body back and returning to a slim size 8, she was left with saggy skin which resembled that of an ’80-year-old.’

Unhappy with the way she looked, Clare decided to undergo a new skin tightening treatment called the ‘Mummy Tummy Makeover’, which was developed by the 2013 winner of the BBC’s The Apprentice, Dr Leah Totton.

‘Losing the weight was one of the hardest things I have done,’ she explained. ‘It required an entire lifestyle change but I was prepared for it – what I was not prepared for was the stretch marks and loose skin I was left with.’

The treatment, which cost Clare £990, helped to transform her stomach over eight weeks.

After having her first child Sadie, now 15, at 18, the mother-of-two’s tummy was left covered in stretch marks. Then five years later, she gave birth to her second child, Ben, now 10, and found herself at her heaviest – a size 22.

After months of exercise and a change of diet, the super slimmer managed to shed an impressive six stone, and even returned back to her size 8 pre-baby body.

But unfortunately, she was left with a saggy stomach that she hated – and revealed she felt more confident naked before the weight loss.

Before: Despite managing to return to her size 8 frame, Clare was left feeling insecure with her saggy skin, pictured, which she said looked like it belong to an ’80-year-old’

After: Clare was thrilled with the results of the Mummy Tummy Makeover, which was developed by the 2013 Apprentice winner Dr Leah Totton

‘Nobody ever talks about the fact that your tummy may actually look worse after you lose the weight,’ said Clare.

‘I remember trying on a bikini for the first time after I had reached my goal weight, and thinking to myself that my tummy looks like an 80 year old’s.’

Last summer, Clare set about trying to find a solution but was terrified by the thought of going to a plastic surgeon.

Concerned about taking time off work, the cost of surgery and the risk of a general anesthetic, she remembered Dr Leah.

The procedure is non-surgical, and not only helped to tighten Clare’s loose skin, but also treated the appearance of stretchmarks her with no scarring or downtime needed

The treatment that the mother-of-two underwent involved medical lasers which helped to treat the stretchmarks and radiofrequency-based treatments, which helped to tighten lax skin

Noting that the clinic had also won awards for their treatments, she booked an appointment and was recommended the Mummy Tummy Makeover.

The Mummy Tummy Makeover

Dr Leah’s Mummy Tummy Makeover  target two main concerns (stretch marks and loose skin) with powerful laser and radio frequency technologies;

Stretch Mark Reduction (2 Treatments)

Stretch marks are treated with medical grade fractional ablative laser

Skin Tightening (6 Treatments)

Radio frequency is used to tighten up lax skin on the tummy which has been left due to rapid weight loss or skin stretching post pregnancy. It involves heat technology to stimulate collagen and elastin production and tightens the skin

It costs £990 which includes a specialist consultation with one of our Aesthetic Therapists and an 8 treatment course of treatment.

‘Dr Leah immediately put me at ease,’ she said. ‘She was lovely, listened to my concerns and made me feel that I wasn’t the only person who had this problem and that there was hope without having to go under the knife.’

The treatment consisted of a mixture of medical laser treatments to treat the stretch marks, and radiofrequency-based treatments, which tightened the lax skin on Clare’s tummy – and the mother-of-two required a total of eight treatments (one per week for eight weeks).

While she was nervous for her first appointment, it was more due to the fact she was scared about showing the aesthetic therapist her stomach, rather than the procedure itself.

‘There was a slight tingling sensation when having the medical laser and I had some scabs on my tummy for a few days after, where my stretchmarks had been,’ explained Clare.

The radiofrequency treatment took just 45 minutes, and Clare returned to work immediately after the procedure.

‘I know my stomach will never be “perfect” but for the first time ever I feel confident to have my tummy on show and will be wearing a bikini this summer,’ she enthused.

Clare, pictured today, is delighted with the results, and revealed that she is finally looking forward to wearing a bikini again this summer

Dr Leah Totton, pictured, transformed Clare’s saggy stomach with her new treatment ‘The Mummy Tummy Makeover’. She said she developed the treatment after seeing a rise in the number of people with excess skin and stretchmarks

Dr Leah developed the treatment after seeing a huge surge in the amount of people who were left with excess skin and stretchmarks after losing a large amount of weight.

‘We are in the era of “body transformations” new mums seem to be returning to their pre-pregnancy weight in very short periods of time and social media is awash with examples of people who have had dramatic weight loss transformations,’ she explained.

‘It can be a very disheartening thing to go through the effort and commitment involved in losing weight only to still feel unhappy with your appearance, albeit for a different reason.’
