Marks & Spencer launches ‘coverless’ washable duvet

No more changing the bedding! M&S launches £32.50 COVERLESS duvet that can be put straight into the washing machine – and delighted shoppers claim it ‘dries in less than a day’

  • The Supremely Washable Printed Duvet from M&S doesn’t require a cover
  • With various size and colour options, it can be washed directly and dries in a day
  • Saving time and money, shoppers say it’s ‘a fantastic concept’ and ‘so easy’

An innovative machine-washable duvet from Marks & Spencer has received high praise from shoppers for making the tricky task of changing the cover redundant.

The high street chain’s £32.50 ‘supremely washable’ printed duvet doesn’t require any additional covers and can be put straight into the washing machine before drying out within just a day.

Shoppers have praised the product and left a spate of glowing reviews on the website; while some have dubbed it a ‘fantastic concept’ others say it’s ‘so easy’ and ‘a brilliant idea.’

‘These duvets are an absolute godsend,’ commented one happy customer. ‘My son in particular moves around a lot in his sleep and his duvet covers were forever slipping. Not so last night where he had a warm nights sleep under his new blue duvet.’

‘So easy to make bed and wash, even a teenage boy can manage it!’ said another.

Marks & Spencer’s Supremely Washable Printed Duvet can be put straight into the washing machine and comes in light grey or dark blue – without the need for an additional cover

‘My daughter loves her new mint one as well, they both have 10.5 tog. They love the smooth material. I haven’t washed them yet but I’m happy that they should dry in a day. Nothing to dislike,’ another review stated.

‘With its own soft touch microfibre cover, this duvet doesn’t require any additional covers,’ the store explains on its website.

‘Designed with convenience in mind, the duvet features our innovative Supremely Washable technology that allows for easy and quick laundering, meaning it can be washed and dried within a single day, while retaining its incredibly soft feel.’

The smart invention is also available in double, king size and super king size as well as a light grey or blue colourway and a 4.5 or 10.5 tog choice.

Marks & Spencer shoppers are thrilled with the revolutionary product, leaving countless positive reviews on the brand’s website

But while the product has scored rave reviews from fans of the popular high street retailer, it’s not the only washable duvet system on the market.

The Fine Bedding Company offers the Night Owl Duvet – a 7 Tog choice that comes in a chic grey and yellow design for £35 from John Lewis.

It’s a simple concept but one that’s likely to be a saviour for countless homeowners; according to a recent study by Mattress Advisor, the average person changes their sheets once every 24 days, and changes a pillowcase every 24.6 days.

Worse still, people said they could go 35 days before thinking their dirty sheets are ‘gross’.

The survey found that men wait more than 10 days longer than women do before washing their sheets, and single men wait 45 days, on average, before doing laundry.

But experts recommend we wash our bedding at least every two weeks to avoid a build-up of oils, sweat, saliva and skin cells.
