Man’s body found in country lane as police appeal for witnesses

A man’s body was found in a country lane in Farnham on Friday night.

The police have confirmed the discovery was made by a member of the public and the body was found in Crondall Lane, Farnham.

A stretch of the road, which has a 40mph speed limit and is lined with trees and farm land, was closed while police investigators scoured the area for evidence.

It is now reopened but a police sign by the road read: "Accident here."

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses after the body of a man was found on the road in Crondall Lane, Farnham, on Friday evening.

"Officers attended at 9.50pm after a member of the public contacted to say they had found the deceased man."

Detective Inspector Simon Driver of Surrey Police said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the incident.

"At this stage we are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

"If you were near Crondall Lane this evening please get in touch with us, as even the smallest piece of information may help us to understand what happened.

"We would also urge anyone who was in the area to review their dashcam in case they have captured anything that may be useful for our investigation."

The next of kin of the man, who has not been named by police, have been informed.
