Emma Stone's 2019 Golden Globes Look Is a Total 180 from Her First Globes Carpet

If there’s any one celebrity whose rise to fame underscores the American dream, it’s Emma Stone.

Do you guys remember the first time you saw the now-Oscar-winner onscreen? For me it was on my 15th birthday when I rented (because that was a thing) a copy of The House Bunny, which featured Stone, Katharine McPhee, Rumer Willis, and Kat Dennings as dorky sorority recruits receiving guidance from house mom (and former Playboy bunny) Anna Faris.

Just two years later Stone was the Golden Globe-nominated lead of her own blockbuster, Easy A. With a string of hit films under her belt, the actress earned her second Globe nomination and first Oscar nomination for her performance in Birdman (2014). Two years after that, Stone won her first Globe (and Oscar) for La La Land.

These days, nominations are commonplace for the 30-year-old, whose performance in 18th century-set royal dramedy The Favourite earned her a fifth Golden Globe nomination (and a potential second win).

And just as her career has evolved from those early House Bunny days, her red carpet style has too.

This year, Emma arrived at the Beverly Hilton in a nude-colored gown lined with scalloped glittering embellishments, looking as elegant as ever with her signature auburn waves pinned back to frame her face.

Last year, Stone followed the show’s Time’s Up dress code in a one-shoulder custom black lace Louis Vuitton gown and matching sandals.

Stone earned her first Globe in a plunging pale pink Valentino gown embellished with metallic silver stars.

The actress established herself as one to watch in the fashion sphere when she bucked tradition (and still looked insanely fab) in a strapless Lanvin jumpsuit with a sparkling beaded bodice and a black train that matched her trousers.

Her Golden Globes red carpet debut, however, may be our favorite of the bunch — if only because it shows just how far she’s come. At just 22, the first-time nominee made her paparazzi-laden entrance in a pale coral cap-sleeve Calvin Klein gown. Stone, who had yet to adopt the au naturel pale skin she now champions, practically matched her dress with a pretty serious tan. And the crème de la crème … she was BLONDE. To be fair, that’s her natural hair color, but we’ll never shake our image of her as a redhead.

Ah, how times do change — though, to be fair, her skin did match her dress this year, too …
