Primark is set to trial an online click and collect service and shoppers can’t wait

PRIMARK is well known for producing must-have items which sell out in store almost instantly.

However, customers will be able to beat the crowds as the retailer is set to trial a new click and collect service, meaning shoppers can reserve goods before collecting them in store.

According to Davy the company’s chief executive Paul Marchant told a group of analysts earlier this month that they would be looking into launching the service.

Davy reports that click and collect is “on the horizon.”

It added that “even when rolled out, a click-and-collect offering will only drive an incremental benefit for Primark.”

Despite the decision to branch out into ecommerce Davy adds “of the top-20 retailers, which hold 70 per cent of the UK market, Primark is the only one with no online presence, yet it has achieved the largest market share gains over the last decade.”

However, you can put your laptop away for now as one analyst told the Financial Times that the service is still “a year or so away” and is likely only to be trialled in certain regions.

The news is sure to come as relief to Primark shoppers who have been begging the store to introduce the service for years.

Earlier this month Rhian took to Twitter complaining: “It’s 2019… we can find water sources on different planets, yet @Primark don’t do click and collect. Absolute scandal.”

Equally frustrated Nicole previously tweeted: “What kind of world do we live in where we can’t even order online from Primark or click and collect.”

And Aimee said last year: “@Primark can your 2019 resolution be to have a click and collect option xo”

It comes just weeks after the company launched its largest store in the world in Birmingham.

The store, which opened its doors to the public on April 11, features five floors as well as a Disney café and a personalisation station.

In other Primark news, fans are scrambling to get their hands on the store’s latest Disney collection which includes a bridal Mickey Mouse pj set.

And store is also selling a Friends-themed range including T-shirts for £6.
