Moment pregnant Meghan Markle appeared to fight back tears during Alfie Boe performance at Westminster Abbey

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex, 37, looked visibly moved as she watched the English tenor's a capella rendition of Snow Patrol's Run during the Commonwealth service.

While other audience members, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, looked nonplussed during the song, Meghan looked like she was fighting back tears.

In footage captured by the BBC, Meghan looked like she was blinking and sniffing as Alfie performed at Westminster Abbey.

The celebratory service also included musical offerings from Clean Bandit and the B Positive choir.

Meghan pulled out all the stops at the event in an eye-catching white chain-print Victoria Beckham dress, coat, bag and shoes.

Meanwhile Kate, 37, wore a favourite red Catherine Walker coat and matching dress.

Prince William appeared to particularly enjoy the afternoon service – smiling to himself as internationally-acclaimed didgeridoo player William Barton played the traditional Australian instrument.

Meghan has previously gushed about her love for music on her now-defunct blog The Tig.

In 2017, she shared her favourite indie artists whose “positive vibes” help beat the “daily rigmarole of winter blues.”

Her top picks at the time included Crystal Fighters and Maggie Rogers.

Meghan wrote: “Turn these tracks on as you’re getting ready in the morning, when you need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, or during your next evening celebration.

“Because when the air is filled with positive vibes, there’s no winter cold that can block out the warmth of happy hearts.”

Other guests at the Commonwealth event included Prime Minister Theresa May and the Commonwealth Secretary-General Baroness Scotland.

High commissioners, ambassadors, faith leaders and more than 800 schoolchildren and young people also attended.

Just hours earlier Meghan visited youngsters at Canada House in an embellished green coat by Canadian and Turkish fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu along with £486 Aquazzura pumps.
