Lucy Boynton Was 'in Shock' When She and Boyfriend Rami Malek Matched on the Red Carpet

Lucy Boynton has been making her mark on “best dressed” lists this awards season, as has her beau and Bohemian Rhapsody co-star, Rami Malek. But just because the couple work and play together doesn’t mean they get dressed together.

“When [our outfits] looked somewhat coordinated it’s always been a bit of a shock,” Boynton told reporters at the Rodarte Fall/Winter 2019 show with JNSQ at The Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California.

She laughed as she added, “And I don’t know what that says…” Though the coordinated ensembles aren’t pre-planned, Boynton, 24, admits that she’s “always really admired” Malek’s, 37, style.

“His stylist, Ilaria Urbanati is one of my favorite people and has such great taste and always very out there,” Boynton said. “So it’s exciting to see what she puts on her clients.”

Date night attire for the pair is a bit more casual, though Boynton admits she wishes it wasn’t. “I wish I could be wearing the dresses I do on the red carpet, I’m not gonna lie. I would go anywhere in one of those Erdem ball gowns,” she said.

“But usually I go for the little Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby babydoll dress. That’s my favorite look,” she added, “With some Mary Janes.”

The next red carpet the couple will likely walk together is at the Oscars on Sunday, February 24, where Malek is up for best actor for his performance Bohemian Rhapsody.

The two were first spotted out together in August 2018 when they were seen grabbing lunch together, walking arm-in-arm, in Los Angeles. They also shared a kiss while sitting next to each other while grabbing food.

The next time they were seen together was in May at a U2 concert in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t until January 2019 that their relationship was award-show official.

Malek confirmed their relationship at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Film Awards Gala in January when he gave a sweet shoutout to Boynton during his acceptance speech for best breakthrough performance.

“Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, you are my love,” he said. “I appreciate you so much.”
