UK Eurovision hopeful Michael Rice says his ‘dad’s spirit’ may help him pull of shock WIN

The 21-year-old singer lost his dad two years ago but still feels his presence when he is on stage.

Michael is convinced his father helped him to win TV talent show All Together Now from beyond the grave – and reckons the same could happen at Eurovision. He told the Daily Star: “My dad will be on my mind when I perform. He’s always with me.

“Every time I perform I take time to say a little bit of a prayer before I go on. I just have a little minute to think about how proud he would be of me.

“I know he’s looking down on me. I think he had something to do with All Together Now.

“I just knew he was there then and I know he’ll be with me this time.

Bookies are tipping Michael to flop – but he reckons that he can prove them wrong.

He said: “I’ve been getting support from across Europe. A lot of people are saying it’s the best song the UK has had for a while. I’m being positive. I know I’m going to smash it.

“Hopefully, I can get a good result for us. I’m in it to win it. I don’t think Brexit will affect things.

“No-one has mentioned it since I got to Tel Aviv.

“This is a singing competition. It’s all about the music. It shouldn’t be about politics.”

Eurovision is tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
