Strictly’s Bill Turnbull reveals he yells at his cancer at the end of his garden

Former Strictly Come Dancing star and BBC legend Bill Turnbull has revealed that he goes to the bottom of his garden at night to shout at his cancer.

Following a diagnosis of incurable prostate cancer two years ago, Bill has now made Bill Turnbull: Staying Alive – the documentary, which will air on Channel 4 on Thursday, is an up-close look at the illness and how Bill lives with it.

In an interview with the Express Saturday magazine , Bill confided that he has a unique way of letting out his emotions.

The Classic FM presenter, 63, said: "Sometimes I go down to the bottom of the garden at night and shout at my cancer.

"I tell it to get stuffed – though usually with much stronger language than that."

Bill also told the documentary was a very emotional project for him.

"It's very emotional and a bit of a blubathon," he said, "I'm a bit embarrassed because you see me crying so much. I do have days where I weep quite a lot, partly because I'm on a hormone treatment which makes me spill over, but I do believe that crying is a very important thing to do when under this kind of stress."

Staying Alive will give viewers a glimpse into Bill's every day-to-day life as he lives with cancer, and will show some intimate moments he shares wife his wife, Sarah, and their three children, Henry, Will and Flora.

Bill will also chat with others who've suffered from cancer, including former colleague and pal Sian Williams, and Stephen Fry.

There will also be a bit of levity though, including Bill's first crack at using cannabis oil which gives him the giggles.

He laughed: "It made me giggle so much I couldn't string a sentence together!
