Selma Blair Tearfully Walks Her First Red Carpet With Cane After Multiple Sclerosis Diagnosis

AceShowbizSelma Blair is gracefully fighting her disease. Marking her first appearance since announcing that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, the blonde beauty attended the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday, February 24 with the help of a cane. The moment apparently was so emotional for her that she even teared up while posing for photographers.

Despite needing a cane to walk, Selma still looked gorgeous at the bash. She wore a multicolored pastel gown with streaks of pink, green, blue and black, completing it with a gorgeous cape that flowed as she twirled on the red carpet. The cane, which was custom made by her friends, featured her monogram initials and a pink diamond. She previously said that she “burst into tears” when the cane was gifted to her.

Inside the bash, the “Anger Management” star made sure to take pictures with fellow guests. Taking to Instagram, she posted a selfie with Shonda Rhimes. “I have arrived. @shondarhimes @vanityfair Oscar dinner,” she wrote along with the photo. “Congratulations to all the amazing talent.”

Selma revealed her diagnosis back in October last year, and has since been opening up about the challenging moments that she had while fighting the disease. Last month, she admitted that the disease “is uncomfortable. It is a stadium of uncontrollable anxiety at times.” She added, “Going out, being sociable holds a heavy price. My brain is on fire. I am freezing. We feel alone with it even though the loving support has been a god send and appreciated.”

“I choke with the pain of what have I lost and what I dare hope for, and how challenging it is to walk around,” she continued. “But my smiles are genuine. This is ok. Life is an adventure with many shards of awakening. I can’t sleep at night but daytime I have trouble staying awake…”
