Regina King names who reached out after vow to hire more women

Regina King is receiving a ton of support following her Golden Globes speech in which she vowed to employ at least 50 percent women on projects she produces.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, the Oscar favorite for best supporting actress, revealed who’s already reached out to her.

“[Producer] Bert Salke has [reached out], Tyler Perry, immediately, and those are men,” King, 47, told the site. “Those are just a couple of the men. I haven’t even finished going through all my congratulations emails, so I’m sure there’s a couple of others.”

During her acceptance speech for best performance by an actress in a supporting role for her work in “If Beale Street Could Talk,” King made a very powerful promise to viewers and her fellow Hollywood colleagues.

“And I just want to say that I’m going to use my platform right now to say in the next two years, everything that I produce, I’m making a vow — it’s going to be tough — to make sure that everything that I produce that is 50% women,” she said on stage before the music cut her speech. “And I just challenge anyone out there — anyone out there who is in a position of power, not just in our industry, in all industries — I challenge you to challenge yourselves and stand with us in solidarity and do the same.”

Immediately after her speech, she received support from Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone.
