Prince William & Duchess Kate Met Olivia Colman and It Wasn't Awkward At All

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a stylish appearance at the 2019 BAFTAS on Sunday (February 10). After the ceremony, Prince William and Kate Middleton met with the evening’s nominees and winners—including the new star of The Crown.

Olivia Colman, the brilliant British actress who’s set to play Queen Elizabeth II for Seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown, took home the BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Queen Anne in The Favourite. The duke and duchess both took time to chat with the actress and her co-stars; in the video below, William can be seen teasing her and at one point, congratulating her with a, “Well done.” Kate then pops over to share a few jokes.

Prince William is the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and presented the Fellowship Award to film editor Thelma Schoonmaker during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, The Favourite, which tells the story of Queen Anne and her raucous 18th-century court, swept the evening, nabbing seven wins total: Colman for Leading Actress, Rachel Weisz for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Original Screenplay, Outstanding British Film, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hair.

The movie is an awards season darling, nominated for ten Oscars at the 2019 Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Best Actress (Colman), Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone, Original Screenplay, Cinematogaphy, Production Design, Costume Design, and Film Editing.

The Crown is slated to return to Netflix sometime this year.
