Louis Theroux brands new sex symbol status ‘ironic’

Louis Theroux has shared his thoughts about his new sex symbol status.

The documentary maker appeared on This Morning today, and while he’s flattered about his online status, he is also boggled about his newfound sexy stardom.

Louis put down the attention as “irony” rather than it being his dashing good looks.

Philip quipped that he had become “somewhat of a sex symbol”.

Louis jokingly replied: “You say that Phil…”

“There’s a lot of merchandise online,” revealed Holly.

“You’ve been paid to do that,” he jokingly responded.

Louis chuckled after being presented with a sequinned cushion of his face, a living room essential which changes as you brush your hand over it.

“That’s my Christmas sorted,” he added.

He said: “I remember when I first saw it on the internet and there were people selling t-shirts, I thought, ‘Wow who would have thought it?’

“But at the same time, I was also aware there’s a bit of irony built into it.

“I’m aware it’s not, ‘Oh they think he’s Brad Pitt.’”

Speaking about his face on the cushion, he said: “Even my mum and I would suggest this is not the best photo of me.

“I’ll take it wherever I can get it.”

Louise appeared on This Morning to talk about his upcoming documentary Mothers on the Edge.

The one-hour programme, set to air on May 12, is centred on three women who have experienced postpartum mental illness after giving birth.
