Lori Loughlin And Mossimo Plead Not Guilty In College Admissions Cheating Scandal

In I-Guess-She’s-Trying-It News, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have pleaded not guilty in the college admission scandal known as Operation Varsity Blues. That $500,000 bribe is really turning out to be a huge pain in the ass, huh? I guess what they say is true: Mo money, mo problems. Well, Aunt Becks won the lotto–if the lotto is paid in money laundering charges. She’s got troubles, and in response her and her husband are doing what they think is best. They’re throwing up a shrug and acting like they’re innocent.

It turns out that paying $500,000 as an alleged bribe to lie about your daughters being on the rowing team so that they could go to USC is a bad idea. Here we are: Lori and Mossimo are facing decades of jail time, their daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella are done with USC and no longer will be able to shill makeup as a career. Sad.

A source told People that Lori’s afraid what pleading guilty and taking a plea like Felicity Huffman will do to her daughters:

“She is very concerned about what a guilty plea would do to her daughters, who may not have grasped everything that was going on… Yes, she can think about the public perception of her, but that’s nothing compared to what her daughters think of her. So that is something that has understandably made her less likely to enter a plea.”

Your daughter who doesn’t “care” about school and went to USC for the parties and football games? Oh yeah, lets care about her perception of things.

The source continued by making Aunt Becky look like she wasn’t the loved aunt you couldn’t wait to see at Thanksgiving but was really the trick who acted like she was queen of the world and people left rooms to avoid listening to the “accomplishments” of her children. Apparently, she was just being a super-rich tiger mom and didn’t know it was illegal so, like, she obvi can’t be punished, right?:

“It’s just taking some time for it to sink in that what she was allegedly doing could be considered illegal…. To her, it wasn’t egregious behavior. Was it entitled and perhaps selfish? Perhaps. But she didn’t see it as being a legal violation… From the beginning, she didn’t want to take a deal, because she felt that she hadn’t done anything that any mom wouldn’t have done, if they had the means to do so… So this wasn’t her being obstinate; this was her truly not understanding the seriousness of the allegations.”

Well, even though this source just admitted that Lori and Mossimo did the things they are charged with doing, they are pleading not guilty.

The Blast reports that Lori and Mossimo have declared that they are not guilty of all the charges laid against them, choosing to avoid another arraignment on the second indictments they received.

Loughlin and Giannulli both filed waiver of appearance forms in their federal case, advising the court they do not want to appear for an arraignment on the second superseding indictment, and instead are pleading not guilty to “each of the charges” against them.

I wonder what they’re going to use as a defense because ignorance of a law is not an excuse to break it (thanks 20 years of Law & Order). So these two are gonna have to come up with something else.

Maybe they can say they were possessed until the very moment they walk into the court room like “Where am I? How did I get here? What’s happening!?” But they’d have to really sell it, they’d have to cry, and scream, and get all dramatic, so I’m not sure they’d pull it off. Have you seen this woman act? She can’t make me believe she doesn’t know how to play darts, she ain’t gon’ convince me she has transient global amnesia.
