A Guy Wrote An Entire Script Where Thanos Hosts SNL and It Is SOMETHING

Josh Brolin has already hosted Saturday Night Live twice—once in 2008, and another time in 2012. He knows what that experience is like, and fans who tuned in on either occasion surely have some memory of it as well.

However, Josh Brolin has not hosted Saturday Night Live while giant, purple, or evil, making a new project from comedy writer (and Esquire staffer) Dom Nero wholly unique, completely bonkers, and undeniably readable. Nero wrote an entire 26-page SNL script envisioning Thanos, the epic antagonist of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, hosting, complete with special guests Alec Baldwin (as Donald Trump), Robert Downey Jr., and musical guest Hoobastank. The tone, voice, and piece are on-point, and it’s pretty impossible to read the script and not picture exactly what the episode would play out as. Quite frankly, he did the damn thing.

what would it be like if Thanos hosted Saturday Night Live? this question haunts my every waking moment. since Endgame is out this week, i finally tried to answer that question. heres my spec script, an entire episode of SNL hosted by Thanos. please enjoy, https://t.co/yQl65xJgsw pic.twitter.com/XaBGL3H2JY

From a cold open with Thanos (dressed as Andrew Jackson) visiting Donald Trump (as played by Alec Baldwin, of course) to a dynamic opening monologue, as Bill Hader’s timeless Weekend Update character Stefon would say: This script has absolutely everything.

The movie references are there. The SNL references are there:

There’s even art!

this has got to be the dumbest thing i have ever done but i love my big purple boy and he deserves this pic.twitter.com/JKVCeQm6kH

In one dramatic scene, a Weekend Update that started out like any other ended up in… utter tragedy, as Michael Che disintegrated into dust.

this to me is erotica pic.twitter.com/JjEjt4Vjr6

At 26 pages, this faux-SNL script can be your dinner reading tonight, and get you even more excited to see Brolin bring his charismatic/villainous gravitas back to the screen this week as Avengers: Endgame finally makes its debut.
