Why Princess Charlotte wore two dresses in her official birthday snaps
The second two pictures show Charlotte smiling at Anmer Hall.
In both snaps, the middle Cambridge child wears an Amaia Kids checked dress.
These tartan garments retail from £50 and come in a variety of different styles.
It’s no surprise that the Princess was dressed up in two frocks.
While royal protocol doesn’t restrict Charlotte from wearing trousers, it’s more traditional for her to wear dresses in family portraits.
Royal expert Marlene Koeing told Harpers Bazaar: “There are no rules about no pants.
“If the Duchess is in a dress in public and Charlotte is with her, most likely Charlotte, at this age, will be in a dress – also in formal portraits, or on the balcony for the Trooping of the Colour.”
